Training Evenings
Dawlish Coasters train every Tuesday and Thursday evening starting from our meeting point at the Sandy Lane car park in Dawlish @ 6.30pm.
Our run leaders offer a variety of training sessions each week, including efforts sessions, 4-6 mile social runs & 6 mile+ longer faster runs, all detailed below.
Our sessions are usually 60 minutes long.
Dawlish coasters members can request to join the mailing list for the ‘week ahead’ email to be kept up to date on the upcoming training sessions, or alternatively they can view this info on our social pages.
An efforts based run for all abilities.
This will be something like a one mile warm up, with looping, then the effort session where the run leader can stand in one place and lead the run. This is so that the runners regardless of ability are all in close proximity and no one feels like they are getting left behind or slowing the group down. What it also means is that with everyone putting in their maximum effort they all get a good workout.
The whole session does not have to be in one location but this should not be an efforts on the move type run.
A short social run. 4-5 miles
This will be partially aimed at the C25K graduates but will be open to all including someone who has marathoned at the weekend and wants a recovery run. This run will be slow with lots of looping.
A longer social run. 5-6 miles
Again a run open to all abilities with looping back and making sure everyone is able to keep up.
A long fast run. 6-7 miles
This will be aimed at runners who can consistently run an approx. 8:30 minute mile pace. There will be minimal/no looping and regrouping.
